India secured their fifth consecutive victory, claiming the top spot on the points table. The team successfully chased down the target of 278 runs in Dharamsala, with former captain Virat Kohli scoring 95 runs.

Between the 33rd and 34th overs, there was a glimmer of hope for the Kiwis. KL Rahul was dismissed by Mitchell Santner, breaking his 50-run partnership with Kohli, and Surya Kumar Yadav was later run out for just 2 runs. However, after a while, India regained their dominance in the match with a 68-run partnership between Jadeja and Kohli.

Earlier, India responded to the aggressive batting as they came out chasing a target of 274 runs. Rohit Sharma (46) and Shubman Gill started the run chase with an opening partnership of 71 runs. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, the pair who successfully chased runs against Australia, are in the middle.

In the first innings, Daryl Mitchell scored a century to guide New Zealand to 273 all out against India in Sunday's top-of-the-table World Cup clash between two unbeaten teams. New Zealand's opening batsmen fell quickly after being asked to bat first.

Himalayan hill town Dharamsala but Mitchell (130) and Rachan Ravindra (75) put on 159 runs to get the innings back on track.

It was the highest World Cup stand between the two teams for any wicket as the pair overtook the previous best of 136 set by Sunil Gavaskar and Chris Srikanth in 1987.

Fast bowler Mohammad Shami played a crucial role in India's resurgence during the final 10 overs, delivering an impressive performance with figures of 5-54 in his tournament debut.

After winning the toss in the 21st match between India and New Zealand at the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on October 22, Indian captain Rohit Sharma decided to field first.

Batting first, New Zealand scored 273 runs after losing all their wickets, thanks to 5 wickets from Mohammad Shami, 2 wickets from Kuldeep Yadav and one each from Bumrah and Siraj. India need 274 runs to win the match.

Despite a slow start and losing early wickets, New Zealand's Rachin (75) and Mitchell (130) put up a good partnership. However, after 200 runs, he kept losing wickets and by the end of 50 overs, he had lost all his wickets.

A five-wicket haul for the returning Mohammed Shami, becoming the first Indian to do so twice in an ODI World Cup.

India experienced an unusually average day on the field, with three dropped catches marring their performance. Kuldeep Yadav (2/73) emerged as the most expensive bowler, but he also played a vital role in dismissing Tom Lathan and Glenn Phillips, capturing their key wickets.

Hosts India, led by captain Rohit Sharma, have been in superb form in this year's tournament, dominating all their opponents to record impressive victories so far. India have arguably been the most exciting team in this year's ICC World Cup, with both the batting and bowling units doing the job for the Men in Blue.

New Zealand, on the other hand, started their campaign with an impressive win over England in the tournament opener and have only gone from strength to strength since then. Despite the absence of their captain and reliable middle-order batsman - Kane Williamson - the Kiwis have still managed to win all their matches convincingly.

In recent years, the rivalry between the two teams has grown, with New Zealand beating India in a heartbreaking semi-final of the 2019 World Cup and then beating them again to win their first ever World Test Championship.
